How Hawaii Got Its Name

Hawaii got its name in 1778, when Captain James Cook discovered Hawaii and named it "The Sandwich Islands". It lasted for a long time until in 1819, King Kamehameha ruled Hawaii and he renamed the state "Kingdom of Hawaii".
